Winter Solstice Festival 2008 @ Northey St, Brisbane

Hot on the heals of the splendid indigenous festival “The Dreaming” came Northey St City Farm’s Winter Solstice Festival. It was a nice opportunity to catch up with a few friends I had not seen for a long time.

The Dreaming Festival 2008

It was hard getting back into the groove of regular day-to-day affairs after “The Dreaming” festival. For a few days, the Woodford Folk Federation grounds were once again like a world existing on its own.

Brisbane Zombie Walk 2008

It was a great day for zombies. The undead turned out in numbers and all looked the part. Shuffling from Roma St Parkland to Fortitude Valley, attracting plenty of attention from onlookers along the way, they eventually showed up for the after party at The Planet.

Woodford No More

Been back from Woodford for some time now. It turned out to be a rather wet year. Plenty of water dumped on the coast by the remains of two cyclones.

Decided to stay on for a few days and help restore order to the festival precinct. It also gave me a chance to enjoy the delightful company of the witty and talented musician & journalist Tom Valsberg. Together we spent a few days cleaning up the site. It provided us with a different perspective of the festival (where’s all the people/the venues & what’s this mess we’re in?).

Away At Woodford

I am currently on a job at Woodford Folk Festival. The first two days were very wet: a constant rain turned much of the festival site (including camp sites) into a bit of mudfest. Today the weather has improved and we’re enjoying the sun. The weather however has not deterred people from having a whole lot of fun. More to follow soon.
